Find out more The company confirmed the completion of the transfer, as previously referenced during its second quarter 2026 (Q2 2026) results presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Under the terms of the transfer agreement, TotalEnergies retains the right to reimbursement by Arctic LNG 2 for its portion of shareholder loans provided to the project, amounting to around $1.3bn. The possibility of repayment will be subject to applicable sanctions and may take place in the future. Arctic LNG 2 is a large-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The project is operated and owned by OOO Arctic LNG 2, which also holds the LNG export licence. The resource base for the initiative is the Utrenneye field, also located on the Gydan Peninsula. Prior to TotalEnergies\u2019 transfer of stake, Novatek held a 60% stake in OOO Arctic LNG. The remaining interests were previously divided between TotalEnergies, CNPC and CNOOC at 10% each, and Japan Arctic LNG, a consortium of Mitsui and JOGMEC, also holding 10%. The Arctic LNG 2 project involves the development of the Utrenneye onshore oil and gas condensate field and the construction of an LNG liquefaction facility.<\/p>\n<p>It is positioned in the Salmanovsky licence area on the western Gydan Peninsula, around 170km from Gyda and 240km from Antipayuta. The final investment decision was reached in September 2019, setting the total project investment at $21.3bn. The first phase (train one) successfully commenced initial production in late 2023, although its subsequent commercial operations and export logistics have been severely restricted by international sanctions.<\/p>\n<p>Train two began production in May 2025, while train three is yet to be commissioned. The subsoil licence for the Utrenneye field was granted in 2014. Construction of the offshore super facility for the gravity-based structures commenced in 2017, as part of the project\u2019s phased development.
